HSA Accounts

Kerrie Schupp forwarded this to me, it was originally sent by James Riddick:

I hope this email finds everyone hanging in there and doing well. I know it has been a wild and interesting month of July for myself!
I am sending this along to everyone I had in my contact list on the CRE Services side (all consultants I know had health insurance, along with Dennis Stejskal, Tom and Kerrie); however, I do not know if you were on the High Deductible Health Plan with an HSA account when MIS was with ADP TotalSource (for 2008).
I had used all but 5 cents of my HSA, so I just left the account at that balance and presumed they would take that as much as they could with the monthly fees until it was zero and I could cut up the cards and be done with it...BUT that isn't what happened.
They have continued to deduct the $3/month fee since that time and now the account is in a negative situation. While the letter I received states they will close the account at year-end, it doesn't state what will be reported negatively on my credit history because of this automatic closure.
WARNING: If you have a Chase Health Savings account in a similar situation, you must contact them to officially close it or will be subject to the same issue. As far as I know, this doesn't mean the HSA Bank account we used in 2009 is treated the same way, but I would almost presume this is a common practice, so beware if you have an account with HSA bank that has been depleted of funds.
One more thing you should know...to close the account, they are going to send you a letter to officially close the account and you must send this back to them along with a check for the negative amount AND the $10 fee to close it. Yes...you have to PAY THEM $10 to close the account. And, contrary to popular belief, this is a "checking" type account and not a "savings" account like the title says...thus why they can treat it this way and allow it be overdrawn due to fees.
Just thought you might want to know before your negative balance gets very large.
The number for the Chase Bank HSA member services center is 866-524-2483.
Good Luck to each of you and take care!

Updade Requested

All,

I thought it would be good to poll people on two items: status of your unemployment clain, status of your job search. Please take a minute to answer the two questions below.

On a different note, I'm having trouble creating a chart with the data. Let me know if you have basic spreadsheet skills. I know I'm missing something very simple.

From Jim Randall re: "Texas Payday Law"

Below is the link to the “Texas Payday Law.” All employees of MIS Group regardless of domicile are eligible to file a complaint.

http://www.twc.state.tx.us/ui/lablaw/lablaw.html

The link to obtain information about Small Claims Courts in Texas is below: (This would apply to anything paid through the MIS A/P system.)

http://www.texasbar.com/Content/ContentGroups/Public_Information1/Legal_Resources_Consumer_Information/Legal_and_Judicial_System1/How_to_Sue_in_Small_Claims_Court.htm

Our attorney in Houston feels that the chances of success are much higher on the “Payday Law” side. A claim in Small Claims Court must be filed in Dallas County. Here’s the link.

Updating Contact Info

All,

I have received lots of requests to update contact info. In order to speed up and automate that process I have created this form to allow individuals to enter their own info which will update the spreadsheet. Be sure to fill out the "updated date" field so that we know we are working with the most current info.

I would love assistance from someone more technical who could help me automate the sorting of the list alphabetically. Let me know if you can help, this is being done with Google Spreadsheets, most Excel formulas should transfer.

Important Info From Deborah

All,

Deborah asked me to post the info below regarding insurance and attorney letters:

I was told there are rumors circulating that we'd not cancelled our insurance yet. It sounds like some people did not recieve my email earlier in the week that I sent to zmisall. I, personally, just want to make sure that everyone does know that we cancelled the insurance. Can you do a post on the blog about that so everyone can see it?

Also, I saw the post about a letter from the attorney. The only employees that will receive that letter are those that had any type of receiveable from us. Meaning those that were contractors at some point in time, etc. Otherwise the letter is only going to vendors. Just thought I'd clarify that with the knowledge that I had.

Also, in case you are not on the Google Group for email see below regarding a mailing address for Greg/Robert:

Saw the post about contact info for Greg, Robert and Marc. You can
send it to our corporate address. They are still receiving mail until
a change of address is issued.

Also, I am no longer employed as of June 30. I have no access to my
mis mail as of yesterday. As of this morning I still have access to
ADP to approve 401k rollovers, etc. but that will go away soon as well
I'm sure.

If you haven't already you should contact ADP immediately regarding your 401k rollover. (my comments added)

Attorney Letter

I wanted to publish this chart with responses related to people receiving letters from the banks attorney regarding receivables. It will be interesting to see if this changes over the coming days and weeks.

Recruiter - Updated -

For those of you not on the Google Group I wanted to pass along info from a recruiter recommended by Rob Workman:

Friends – Please allow me to introduce you to Charlie Brocato. Throughout the 8 years he and I have worked together I have found him to be one of the most stand-up professionals I have had the opportunity to be associated with. Charlie and I first met when I needed help finding technical/application/project management resources to assist with various implementation projects at the company I worked at prior to coming to MIS. Not only was he a great asset to me in recruiting for open positions, the folks he hooked me up with always spoke highly of how he treated them as individuals throughout the recruiting process. He is familiar with the situation that occurred this week and what we did for a living in our various roles at MIS. I would strongly encourage you to reach out to him as part of your career transition plan. He is an awesome resource for career opportunities as well as other things like taking a look at your resume, offering insight on the market, and negotiating skills. He is looking forward to hearing from anyone that may be interested in how he could help. His contact information and company website are detailed below if you are interested. Best of luck to each of you in your endeavors…

Thanks,

Rob

One thing I failed to mention last night, Charlie is in Chicago this week sponsoring a charity golf tournament for children with Autism. I just wanted everyone to know in case he is unable to respond to any inquiries this week.

Attorney Letter

I have heard from one employee who received a letter from the banks attorney regarding the "payroll advance" which triggered a receivable, i.e. the banks collateral. Please use the survey below and let us know if you have received such a letter as of yet:

Heath Insurance Recommendation

I want to throw out one more endorsement for my health insurance broker. I just got approved for a high deductible plan with an HSA account similar to what was offered by MIS this year - $2,500 deductible with a monthly premium around $120. I applied yesterday afternoon and was approved in less than 24 hours. Please contact him if you have not made other arrangements:

Thanks to Shane Holder for putting this together:

In preparation for loosing the Exchange server and access to zMISAll I have

Hopefully this will enable us to keep communicating after the shutdown of the

Health Insurance

As a quick reminder, this site is IN NO WAY affiliated with what remains of MIS Group, this is intended for those of us hurt by the loss of our jobs to share contact information and help one another through this difficult time.

I am not aware yet of any communication from MIS regarding health insurance. As I understood it in the meeting this morning any coverage we would potentially receive would be through the end of July and would not extend past that. Most of us are probably thinking about what happens after July 31, that is assuming that we are able to secure coverage through then. Several weeks ago my wife and I met with an independent health insurance broker who was highly recommended by a friend of mine and is endorsed by Dave Ramsey. We were exploring other options before we knew what was happening at the company as coverage was expensive on the company plan. I highly recommend that people contact him to explore health insurance options. Even if you find another job quickly it would be worth talking with my guy as he will probably be able to save you money. He represents the major carriers, i.e. Blue Cross Blue Shield, Humana, Cigna, etc. Having said all of this, contact Mark Roden if you are interested in exploring options:
